Frequently Asked Questions

To be eligible for a Test to Release test, you must have had a negative test result from your mandatory Day 2 test.

The Government Test to Release scheme has been designed to release international travellers from post-travel quarantine, 5 days after their arrival into England.

This scheme can reduce your self-isolation period from 10 days to 5 days, provided you test negative.

The price of the service is £72, and depending on your sample collection appointment time you will either receive same day or the next day results. Though results are issued within 48.

If you would like to receive your test result on the day of your sampling, you must schedule your appointment between 09:00 and 10:30 that morning.

For those who have a sample collection appointment after 10:30, you can expect to receive your results the next day.

On Fridays all sample collections must be before 10:30 in the morning to ensure results are delivered before the weekend (when we are closed).

Results are usually issued between 16:00-18:00 on any given week day.

Yes. You can add people to your booking or schedule them in for a different time and/or date. Though the date of their test must be no earlier than their 5th day back in England. At the time of booking we will confirm your date of arrival back into the country.

For under 16-year-olds, a person with Parental Responsibility must attend the sample collection appointment to sign consent on behalf of that child. Results will also be sent to this person with Parental responsibility.

We will send you a booking confirmation email once you have booked in for the test.

On this email it will have unique Test to Release booking references for each individual being tested.

The appointment will take about 10 minutes. In this time, we will verify your identity, have you complete a personal details and consent form, collect your sample for testing and take payment.

A sample receipt email will be sent to you once you have attended your appointment and your sample has been received by our laboratory team. This will state your expected results date and time.

You will later receive you results by email as a downloadable PDF file.

If the test results is negative, you can stop your quarantine as soon as you receive the result. Please note that you still need to take the test on/after day 8.

If your test result is positive you need to quarantine for another 10 days. This 10 day period starts from the day after you took the test, or from when you first had symptoms if that is earlier. You do not have to take the coronavirus test on or after day 8.
